Who can volunteer?

[ 0 ] November 18, 2012

You don’t need special qualifications, skills or experience: our only criteria are that you must be at least 18 years of age and willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and a wide variety of backgrounds, faiths and cultures. From college and sixth-form students to civil servants, from legal specialists to lay preachers, from stay-at-home mums to senior executives, from researchers to retired professionals – our team of volunteers has a huge variety of experience to bring to Jimmy’s. And we see a wide age range, from 18 to (almost!) 80. There really is a role for everyone in our volunteer team.

We offer our volunteers a range of activities including mealtime shifts, help with cleaning, running group activities, overnight ‘sleep-ins’, administration support and joining us for external events. So much help is always needed – whatever your level of experience and wherever your skills lie, we can provide you with the opportunity to help others and realise your full potential.

For our volunteers aged 18 to 25, Jimmy’s is pleased to work with the Vinvolved project from the Young Lives team. This develops youth volunteering and provides a nationally recognised accreditation.

If you would like to volunteer at Jimmy’s, please email vol@jimmyscambridge.org.uk or call 0845 680 6085
